What is taking up so much space?

I have a Samsung Galaxy Tab 2 10.1. I am trying to free up some space on the device. The storage settings state that the downloads are taking up 5.89 GB. When I go into the download folder, there are 4 files that take up maybe 1 MB in the Other Downloads folder, and there is nothing in the Internet Downloads folder. I proceeded to try and locate the files manually by plugging the tablet into the computer. There was nothing to explain the space taken up. I tried clicking the hidden files too but still nothing. Can anyone help?

Check the size of your cached data in settings - storage.
