Why doesn't my "speaker" feature not work?

[AC Question]

Ordinarily, i just "touch" the "speaker feature/symbol", and the speaker turns on and turns off.
For some reason today, when i touch the speaker feature, the speaker does not come on.
Any suggestions as to what the problem may be?
