Discrepancy on S Health

Why is there a discrepancy on S Health between the pedometer and the exercise? The pedometer says that I just walked 6889 steps which was 3.7 miles while the exercise part of the program says that I walked 2.99 miles? I'm confused.

The exercise may be using GPS rather than the Pedometer to estimate the distance you traveled. What phone are you using?
