How do I free up memory on my Galaxy Note GT-N7000?

I'm trying to install a bird watching app but it won't install due to lack of storage space. I have deleted other apps and old photos, cleaned out caches, moved apps to the external SD card, etc. all without success. Device Memory shows 1.8Gb used with only 190Mb free. I know I have cleared more free space than that but why doesn't it show? Mega frustrated!!

We can't tell from here, but something is taking up that space. You'll have to find it, or have someone do it for you, but it requires having the phone in hand, it's not something anyone can guess, or some standard Note problem.
