I recently drowned my AT&T Samsung Galaxy S4, and I am hoping to replace it with something very inexpensively while I wait for the release of the new iPhones in September.

On Ebay I've seen that the S4 4G is around $160, while the 3G is only $50 or so. As I am predominantly using it within wifi range, I can probably get by nicely with 3G service for a few months. But I'm not sure if AT&T will let me add it, or if it's considered antiquated.

Other suggestions for a "gap" phone? Or should I just go fetch a new S6 Active (water-resistant, ya know), or an iPhone 6? Thanks very much!

Welcome to Android Central! The 3G S4 is probably international, and those don't always use the same network bands as US carriers. You need to look up the specs of that specific model, and compare its compatible network bands with the ones AT&T uses.

What sort of price range do you have for this gap phone? The Moto G or Moto E are inexpensive but decent phones.
