How do I stop the Active Button from launching the app everytime something touches it?

My phone is almost always in my pocket or in my purse and anytime something even lightly brushes up against the Active Button the program automatically launches. This is killing my battery life. It is happening several times per day and now I am afraid to even put my phone in my purse for fear that it is going to launch apps and drain the battery.

Is there someway to lock the phone so that they Active button can be pushed without launching the app?
