Why is my Galaxy S5 charging intermittently?

AC Question

I usually charge my Galaxy S5 overnight...I use the authentic charger that came with the phone. Lately when I plug it in it will show the red charging light and make the connection/charging sound. Soon after it will act as if it is unplugged and then plugged back in (it makes the sound and shows the light). It just constantly cycles like this, charging and not charging therefore it doesn't really get a full charge. I've tried other usb cables, car charger and my nephews S5 charger and it still does the same thing. It does seem to be sort of positional because if I set it a certain way and dont touch it, it does seem to charge longer before it does the cycling. The USB port doesn't looked damaged to me at all and I haven't dropped it or gotten it wet...I've tried researching but I am truly stumped.

Welcome to AC.

Despite appearances the connector in the port may be damaged, or a connection to it inside the phone.
