The app on my phone will show a number within the Facebook Icon, but there isn't a message. For example, the number within the Home screen Facebook icon says there are 4 messages. I tap the app to access Facebook, I look inside the app and 3 are friends updates on their timeline (normal) and 1 is that erroneous number for a private message. I never have unread private messages and I do not use messenger on my phone app. I only look at the private messages on my computer. On my phone, I have cleared cache, browser data. By accident once recently I shook my phone, it vibrated and that erroneous number cleared somehow. I can't remember how I did that. Is there a way to clear that erroneous message number from that icon? Help?

I wish I knew.... I find mine just clear themselves away after a while, but yeah totally annoying that we need a 2nd app to read messages we get notified of in the first app!!!!
