I don't know if this is a lame problem compared to others here. But this is the only way I know I can get help from.

My brother gave me his S3 this 2015, and I think the phone is about 2 years old. It's been working fine, although I didn't put any SIM to it, it's mostly for internet use specifically watching YouTube videos using home wifi. This device made me happy.

Until recently, I tried charging the phone (with earphones on), and when it reached 70%, I unplugged and stopped the charging for a while. After a few hours, I resumed the charging again up to 100%. That's the time I found out I cannot surf YouTube anymore or Google or Skype etc. I went to Settings and checked the Wifi connection, and it says "not in range". I checked another cellphone and the home Wifi is working there, so the router is not the problem. I also tried removing the battery, and putting it back on after 1 minute (of course shutting down the phone), but still no Wifi. I also noticed that the battery doesn't lose life easily or the percentage number deducts in a very slow manner, compared to its usual charged state before that loses power/percentage in a faster pace.

Is it overcharging, do you think? I tried restarting but it's still the same. What is a reset? I read here, it's not a good solution. I hope somebody out there can give me simple solutions, please make the language simple as I am not a techie. Only simple and clear language please. Thanks!

    1.Importance of passwords

    2.Check the name
Again another seemingly obvious thing to do, but make sure that you are trying to connect to the correct network, often times I have seen 3-4 Linksys addresses when scanning for an available network, Linksys being a very popular wireless router. In any case check and make sure that your connecting to the correct network.

    3.Is Wi-Fi on?
Funny question but it’s a simple mistake to accidently turn off your Wi-Fi and there for have no internet. Drag the status bar at the top of the display downwards (the bar you see your battery life and signal strength on). You should be able to see whether your Wi-Fi is turned on or not. If it’s not then turn it on.

    4,Wi-Fi will not switch on
If your Wi-Fi will not switch on for whatever reason and remains “OFF” or not available then I suggest that you take a slight detour from this guide and follow the advice listed at How to Fix an Android cell phone when its Wi-Fi won’t turn on.

If your Wi-Fi switches to the “ON” position and your cell phone just does not want to connect or stay connected to Wi-Fi then proceed with the advice listed below.

-tried turnin on and off the Wifi
    -tried Airplane Mode
    -tried Soft Reset
Finally, succumbed to Factory Reset (regretted it, my videos erased). But all useless, still no Wifi.
