How can I stop my phone from sleeping when I'm using Google Maps?

I bought a phone mount for my car, so now I can use Google Maps while I'm driving, but Moto X goes into sleep mode after a few minutes. I thought Google Maps was one of the apps that overrode that?

I can't find a setting to turn that off or on, either.

Help!

Hello.
Are you sure it's not just set to dim between turns. This is only switchable after navigation is set.

There are many 3rd party "keep screen on" by selected app. Also, if you plug the phone in via a car charger, you can keep screen on while charging. This can be found in Developer Options.
