Why is google play services not working?

For the past 2 months or so, i've been bombarded with pop up notifications telling my google play services has stopped, this has affected my google play store account as no devices are currently being acknowledged.

You could try clearing the cache for the Play Services and then reboot your phone. If that doesn't work maybe you'll need to uninstall updates for that app. Both things can be done going to settings - apps - Google play services.
