Recently, all my contacts disappeared from my Nexus 4. Unfortunately I hadn't synchronized my contacts to my google account, a mistake I'll not make again. i have tried many of the data recovery apps on the play store to no avail.
My one glimmer of hope, is that in hangouts, for some reason the conversation still have contact names. Even though they are not saved as contacts/I can't locate them.

Any/all help would be much appreciated! Thanks

First thing your contacts are still in your phone if conversations still have contact names. One thing you can try is to connect your phone with pc and then contacts.... i think these contact appear hide.... Try this and tell me is it works or not Because exactly it happened to me.....

There are other things we can try but i think it will be helpful for you. You dont need to worry if conversations have contact name....
