Why wont my galaxy s5 screen come back on?

[AC Question]

my screen went off one day and it just stopped coming back on.
the light at the top of the phone shows you that the phone is cutting on and charging but thats the most it do.

Welcome to Android Central! When you try to power on, does it vibrate and make noise? If so, then the screen has probably failed, and needs to be replaced. If the phone makes no noise or vibration, then it could be a dead battery, or worse yet, a failed motherboard. Try a new battery.
