Samsung Galaxy S4 Mini vs Sony Xperia e4g. What would you get and why?

I currently have an Apple IPhone 4, but it's time for an upgrade. ATM my options are the Sony Xperia e4g and the Samsung Galaxy S4 Mini ( I9195 ) .

My main problems with my current phone is the limited storage space, and lag when switching between apps (particularly WhatsApp and Google Hangouts).

The Samsung has slightly better specs that the Sony. The only thing I have against the Samsung is the default UI, which I don't like very much, but this is not a deal breaker for me. I have friends who are very happy with their S4 Minis, and I can see why.

I like the Sony's look and feel, as well as the newer OS version, but I can't tell how it will perform over time.

So which of the above devices solve my problems best?

Welcome to Android Central.

The first thing to consider is the layout of the screen navigation buttons on the devices you mention. Coming from an iPhone, which would you find most convenient and familiar? I have an iPhone 4s and know what my own preference would be, but just be aware of that basic difference before you go on to consider other factors.
