My screen turned black after dropping it, but does respond to everything. What can be done about it?

AC Question

Hi there!
After dropping my phone (Samsung Galaxy S5 mini - 5 months old), the screen stays completely black, however it does respond. It responds to touching, I can hear that I receive messages, people can call me and even picking up works perfectly fine. The only thing is that the screen stays completely black - really doesn't show anything whatsoever.

After the drop there was a scratch in the top right corner of my screen protecter. But after removing it, the phone looked perfectly fine again.

Anyone knows what it is and what can be done about it (and how, if DIY is possible)?

Thanks for te help already!

You probably need a new screen.

There are a lot of instances of DIY here that have failed. People buying parts, replacing them and phone still not working, or working worse than it did.

Your best bet is to send it in for repair so you have some recourse in case the repair doesn't fix it or causes other problems.
