How do I get file names deleted from download folder?

I have a Moto G, and before finding this forum I connected it to my laptop and just deleted a bunch of files from my download folder that way. Problem is I can still see the file names on my download folder on my phone. I am unable to delete them the regular way because the file isn't really there. Is there a way to get them out?

When you say "regular way" do you mean long press on the file in the Downloads app? If so you could try a couple of things. Clear cache for download manager in settings - apps - all tab and then reboot your phone. Have you already tried using a third party file manager (ES, Solid, etc)?
