In Google play music I somehow created an Icon for one of my playlist and placed it on my main screen, but now can't remember how. The Icon was a blue play button. I created another playlist and tried to repeat what I did but couldn't then tried to delete the first icon and do it again but couldn't. I would like this as I could place my playlists all in one spot and not have to go to the Google Play music app, sort of a short cut.

Welcome to Android Central! Which phone? It was probably a widget, not an app shortcut. Go through the process of adding a widget to the homescreen, and look for a Playlist widget.

I had the same dilemma after switching to a new phone and manufacturer. After some searching, I found it in a group of Google Play Music widgets. The color and basic size had changed dramatically. I don't know if the manufacturer mattered, but I recall creating my previous google playlist icons on an earlier release of Google Play Music. As of 12/1/2016 the icon is a white solid arrowhead pointing to the right on a round red background. This is much different than the icon I had before but the good news is that it works the same way. Thank you Google for leaving this driving friendly function intact..
