YouTube App Issue

I tried looking for a solution for this issue, but looks like people have a different type of problem. I have an s6 and noticed that whenever I try playing YouTube videos from the phone, it plays the sound and shows the thumbnail - but no video. It works fine when I cast so the issue just seems to be when I try playing straight from the phone. Everything seems up to date, and I cleared cache for the app - but issue persists. Does anyone have a solution to this weird problem?
