Why won't the bottom line of my keyboard work?

I have been having issues all day with my phone- I haven't added or changed anything. My main issue is that the bottom line of my keyboard won't let me use those letters (zxcvbnm) to text or use in apps. On top of that, EVERYTHING is moving at a glacial pace and I can't get certain things to even run/open. I keep having the "message expired or not available" pop up on my screen.

From other questions I read I have tried the following- with no success.
1) Disabled google hangouts
2) Wiped cache partition

What I need help with a) get the "message expired or not available" to stop popping up b) get the keyboard to work and c) have all apps running correctly

Which phone do you have? Have you already tried using the keyboard on landscape mode? Same problem with those letters? You could try booting your phone in safe mode, this way you can check if there's a problem with the system or a conflict with an app you downloaded.
