I opened a link from a google search and realized that the website was dodgy as I had been redirected to a site with a pornographic looking image. Immediately I exited the site by using the back button. This link which came up in the google search was not flagged with the warning: this site maybe hacked, but if I google searched the home page of that dodgy link then google flags it as potentially being hacked thus confirming the site was compromised. I subsequently deleted my web browsing cache, cookies and site data. My phone is running android 5.1. I have not noticed any changes to my phones general behavior, and have not seen any apps try to download on my phone, or seen any dodgy popups. Also I do not use any antivirus app. My question is my smartphone infected with Malware that is covertly active from opening a hacked website? Would the only way to confirm this be to download an antivirus app and let it scan the phone? Is there any other way to confirm malware infection?

Hi, try downloading Malware Bytes and running it. Good luck.
