Somehow, I accidentally deleted my home screen and lost a widget (I am pretty sure it was a widget but not 100% sure).

With it, I could see my recent texts, reply to them, scroll through them, etc. -- all without having to start the messaging APP. I would just unlock the screen and there would be - the widget, displaying all the text info that I just mentioned.

This widget also was also re-sizeable, so it did not take up the entire screen. Again, I could just unlock, and immediately see if I had any new texts, along with other widgets : a clock, battery life, cell signal strength, etc.

There is a chance this was not a widget and just some setting of the stock messaging APP, but I can't figure out how to get it to look and behave like what I had before accidentally deleting my home screen.

    Any tips ? - Thanks

Welcome to Android Central! Is it in your Widgets list? Long-press any empty part of the homescreen, select Add Widget, and look through your Widgets list for a Messaging widget.
