why is my phone on fastboot&resue mode

I connect usb cable to computer but I don't know what to do after that, nothing comes up on computer when I connect the cable. im not tech savvy

Welcome to Android Central! More details would be helpful, like which phone you have, and what you were doing when it went into (presumably) Recovery Mode (there's nothing called rescue mode in Android).
