I have a Samsung Galaxy Note 3 in which I had approximately 1000 photos. One day, those have suddenly disappeared... To my horror I cannot see that anywhere. Is there a way back up all those?! Or could someone tell me what might have happened?

Welcome to Android Central! Were the photos saved to Internal Storage or the microSD card?

They were saved in device storage and I moved it to memory card. On the same day, those have disappeared.

Now I see a folders which apparently contains those photos. But when I try to open an image, it says "No App can perform this". Please help.

I'd be concerned about the SD card being either corrupt or counterfeit. Counterfeit cards are unfortunately common--they take a small capacity card and reprogram it to think that it's larger than it is. The problem is that if you save more data than it can actually hold, the data can all get corrupted. Use SD Insight to see if the card is valid.

If the card is valid, then Unmount the card (in Settings>Storage), remove it, and insert it into your computer, and run chkdsk to look for bad sectors: http://forums.androidcentral.com/amb...d-sd-card.html
