Docx formatting issues on Chromebook

[AC Question]

I noticed today that when I open Docx files on my Chromebook the formatting is lost, spacing, bullets, etc. I took some of the files I was having issues with and put them on a USB stick to open on a Windows machine, no issue. What can I do to fix this? I'd really like to use my Chromebook to reliably open, edit, and save Word files.
