I can't set music as a ringtone!
I use a motorola moto g 2nd gen, running Android 5.0.2
i went to change my ringtone to music i have on the phone, but it only showed the default ringtones, so i download ES file explorer.
i managed to set my music file as a ringtone, however when someone calls i only hear a sort of weird noise like the error sound in windows xp. thanks Obama. pretty weird so how do i solve this problem.
thanks in advance :)
Re: I can't set music as a ringtone!
Welcome to Android Central! Use the file manager app to copy that music file to the Ringtones directory (on Internal Storage, not the microSD card). When you go to the menu to select a ringtone, it should now show up. You might have to reboot the phone first.
Re: I can't set music as a ringtone!
I tried that and it gives me an error, (read-only file system).
It already is in the list because of selecting it with es file explorer earlier, but like I said instead of the ringtone I get a weird noise
Re: I can't set music as a ringtone!
When does that error appear? When you try to copy the file to the Ringtones directory? When you try to select the tone? Or when it tries to play the ringtone?
Try the general troubleshooting step of wiping the cache partition: https://motorola-mobility-en-hk.cust...p/30,6720,9151

When I try to copy the file to the ringtones directory. What do you think is causing all this?

Have you tried other file managers? Try Total Commander.
