I updated my moto x to android 5.1 after it was released a few days ago. Since then, my battery life went from ~ 10-12 hours to ~4-5. Does anyone know why this might be, and how I can fix it?

You could try wiping the cache partition on recovery and see if that helps.

I tried this and it worked for a couple of days. I charged it recently and now the battery only lasts a few hours again.

Check in your battery stats which apps are using a high percentage and post some screenshots here. Better if you wait until you've got about 30% of your battery left. We'll try to figure out what's wrong.

It seems that MS Exchange Services is using a lot of battery. You could check the sync settings in the app. I imagine that it's keeping your phone awake a lot of time. If you tap on the graph you can see this information, take a screenshot of that screen as well.

Also, I'd recommend to uninstall, or disable, the DU battery saver app and any Ram manager. It doesn't help and sometimes it could be the cause for a battery drain.

Take a look at this thread and see if some of the fixes work for you.

Thank you! I set my email to sync every 5 minutes instead of constantly. After a couple of weeks, my battery lasts longer than before the update (12-14 hours) and sometimes more than a day if I'm not using it much.
