Apps open to weird places

For example. I go to gmail when the notification appears. I leave gmail. I open it back up and an older random email i havent seen in days is already open. Same thing happens in the messages app and on facebook. It happens in pretty much every app that lists things. The last thing i look at is not the thing that appears when i go back to it.

I would wipe the cached on the phone, boot into recovery and wipe it there. If it was a Google only issue I would say wipe that cache but it appears to be an issue with other apps as well.
