How can I add the newest version of Android to my LG Optimus V?

I have an Android 2.2.2 LG Optimus V with the lowest-capacity SD card. How can I install the newest Android version and what "size" SD card do I I need to install first? If the Optimus V cannot run the latest Android, what is the cheapest (and smallest) mobile that can? Thank you.

Welcome to Android Central! It's highly highly unlikely that your phone can run Lollipop, or even KitKat. You'd have to root the phone and look for a custom ROM developed specifically for that phone.

The current Moto E and Moto G would be good budget choices that run Lollipop (and should also get Marshmallow).
