What happened to split screeen multi tasking in Android M for tablets

Remember the hack? When are we going to see Split View Multi Tasking on tablets?

Shall we wait for Android 6.1?

I want it on my Nexus 9

Shall we wait for the final version to release? Up to now, any version of M that is out there is a "developer preview" so features are likely to be missing or incomplete.

Not trying to be a jerk, but I think everyone needs to be patient and wait for the full release before complaining about "missing" features.
