I've lost at least 40 songs that I did not delete myself--some of them I know for a fact were on the phone this morning, others I am not as sure about when they disappeared. Not sure about other types of files, but at first look only mp3 files are missing. I tried rebooting the phone, which didn't work, and doing some searches for similar problems hasn't turned up anything. I haven't downloaded any apps today or yesterday and Lookout says there is no malware.

Welcome to Android Central! Were all of these files on Internal Storage or the microSD card?

What directory were they in? Where did you download them from? Have you been using the LG Smart Cleaning feature?

They were in /storage/emulated/0/Music Music along with a number of other songs which are still there. I moved them over from my computer via USB cord quite a while ago. I haven't used smart cleaning in a long time, at least 6 months probably

There are more gone today than yesterday, also, so whatever is happening seems to still be going on.

I'm not completely familiar with Smart Cleaning, so this may be off base--but is there a way to schedule periodic Smart Cleaning? If so, make sure that's turned off.

Doesn't look like it. There's a setting for notifications of idle apps but nothing about automatic cleaning. You can ask it to delete temporary files and the clip board, or look at your idle apps and download folder to delete things but I think that's all it does.

Hmm, not sure. To be safe, make sure all of your important data has been recently backed up or synced, in case this is an early symptom of flash memory failure.

I'll keep it backed up and hopefully it's some kind of fluke. May take it to a tech store to see if they have any ideas. Thanks either way
