Get moto E 2nd gen to default to home screen

when reactivated after sleep mode it defaults to the phone screen. I want it to default to my home screen

Are you swiping to the right to unlock? The action will be different depending on the direction you swipe in the lock screen.

Right - dialer.
Left - camera.
Up - home screen.
Down - notifications.
