I keep getting a message that my phone is being attacked by a virus, but I already have antivirus software on my phone. Is this legit or is it an ad?

Welcome to the forums. I think this is closer to a pop up ad. I remember a thread where the screenshot was the same. I will try to find it

This is a bogus warning put up, possibly by your existing antivirus app, possibly by some other app you installed, in an attempt to get you to turn more of your money into their money by "upgrading" your antivirus app. Uninstall your antivirus app - which you don't need anyway - and hopefully the problem will go away.

    Uninstall apps this way:
Settings > Apps > All (scroll right a bit to see) > Select your antivirus > Force stop > Clear cache > Clear data > Uninstall

If you have installed anything by:
Cheetah Mobile (All the CM stuff, QuickPic and more)
DU Apps (DU Battery saver, others)
Go Development Team (All GO apps)
    360 Mobile Security
...just to name a few, they may put up such nag ads also.

Also apps like task killers, RAM memory optimizers/boosters, battery savers/repairers, cache cleaners, antivirus, etc etc. are notoriious for this behavior. None of that stuff is necessary or desirable anyway. They are counterproductive, waste power, disrupt system processes and degrade performance. Uninstall any and all such apps.

I couldn't find the thread I was referring to. The downside to posting a lot....something you post 2 weeks ago gets buried quickly.

Try what crash said. Hopefully that fixes it.
