I recently purchased at 2nd hand Samsung Galaxy S5. Its been working well, however it has a serious storage problem.

I facctory reset it, cleared the cache and sanitised the free space using SecureWipe for good measure, to ensure it was clean. When downloading apps I was confronted with the issue of Internal Storage being used up, so I couldn't download more. I checked my App Settings and saw that nearly 14GB had been used, so I moved as many apps as I could to my SD card. The issue persisted, and when i checked my storage settings I found that around 500 MB had been used on apps, around 400 MB was free and the rest of my 14 GB allocation was simply unaccounted for.

This cannot all be the OS, so what else could be using the space and how can I clear it to make it useable? I have cleared the cache repeatedly, and used the Disk Usage app to try to find the prooblem, nothing has yet worked.

Welcome to Android Central! You could try the Delete Dumpstate/Logcat fix. Open your Dialer, dial *#9900#, then select Delete Dumpstate/Logcat.
