Xbox Wireless controllers: They work on Moto G 2nd gen but not the 3rd gen?

/When plugging in my wireless adapter to my G2 it works fine. however with the G3 it just doesn't recognize at all. G2 is on 5.0.8 ( i think?) the G3 is on 5.1

Anyone know why this is happening, or if there is anyway i can get it working on my G3?

P.S a wired ps3 controller also doesnt work? might be problem with OTG connection in general?
