Headphones wont connect to LG G4

I just got a new LG G4. Everything works fine except this, i connect my headphones to my phone, and make sure its all the way in but when i go to play my music, it doesnt play through the headphones. I dont know how to fix this. Also, i have an otterbox on my phone. That might be causing the problem because its kind of difficult to put the jack in.

Might be a silly question...but have you tried to connect with the case off?
