Info from phone with cracked screen?

I have a Moto X (2nd Gen) that I dropped and subsequently cracked the screen, not the glad but the screen. It's now completely blank. I had insurance thankfully and now have my replacement phone. How can I get my info off of my old phone? Or at least wipe it before sending it in? I tried plugging a mini USB/USB cord into my laptop and nothing. Maybe my laptop is too old? Help!

I would try another PC just to ensure it isn't your old laptop. It should connect up if the phone still boots. Can you tell if the phone still boots in any way (sounds or anything) ?
