Receiving immediate text response in Chinese (sender didn't type)

[AC Question]

Twice now, from two different contacts, I have sent a text and received an immediate response from their device in what looks to be Chinese - see below.
I have a Samsung S4 and I believe these contacts do too.

浥獳慧攠⁴漠ㄶ㐷㐰㜷㜱㔠獵捣敥摥搮

Any ideas what could be causing this?

Welcome to Android Central! It appears to be gibberish when plugged into Google Translate (although in my experience, Translate isn't that great with Chinese characters). Have you shown this to your carrier?
