AC Question

I recently updated my Nexus 7 tablet to Android 6.0 and now my Nexus won't connect as usual to my computer via usb. When I connect, Nexus 7 appears in my Windows 7 explorer, but it has a new icon and it doesn't show any content for the "drive". I tried to copy the icon into this message but cannot. No the Nexus 7 when I go to Settings; Storage & USB, and click on the three dots for a menu, the only thing that appears is "Help and Feedback" and I cannot find any other place in settings which allows me to select MTP. What's going on and how can I fix it?

Well, I found the answer myself, thanks to a post about the same problem on a Nexus 5. It turns out that the latest version of Android has moved the USB choices from the "Settings/Storage & USB" site to the Notification Center which one access by stroking down from the top of the screen. When one plugs in via a USB cable (and not otherwise), a USB notice appears which states the current USB state and allows you to "Touch for more options". There you will find the options you used to see in the Settings/Storage & USB" site. Unfortunately, Google did not see fit let us know about that change. By selecting MTB, the Nexus internal memory finally showed up in Windows Explorer on my Windows 7. Don't know if it's the same for WIndows XP, 8, 8.1, or 10. but suspect it is.

Very grateful XP user. The hint to rind the relocated MTP button in the notification area did the trick. stroke down the notification area from the top, chose touch for more options and ticked File transfers (MTP). Only after I switched off USB debugging in Developer options did I see my Nexus 7 files on my XP explorer.
With this the yellow driver update prompts in Device manager disappeared and Nexus 7 showed under portable devices. Hooray after several months of transferring via dropbox which is a pain.
There was no need to download or update anything.

Shame on Android for not letting us know that the MTP button was shifted from storage to notifications.
