AC Question

I created a guest account and shot some long videos using that account. The problem now is that i can't transfer those videos. When connecting my phone as USB, the data in guest account does not show up (while the data in my regular account does) and also due to the very large file size i am not able to upload the files to any cloud storage. Can any one relate to it and help me solve this. Any help is highly appreciated.

Welcome to Android Central! Which device? I assume you mean you shot the video while using a guest profile on the device, right? When you connect the device to the computer, is it logged into the guest profile or the primary user profile?

Hi,
Thanks for replying! You assumed right, and i did try it with both profiles. When i plug in with the guest account then the folder does not show any data, where as when i plug in with my usual account then it shows all the data in my account (but not the guest account) - snapshot attached

If you're logged into the phone's primary account, are you able to see the guest account's files in the file manager? If so, can you transfer the video file to the primary account's video directory?

So i can't see the guest account's files when i am in my primary account. I tried checking in most folders where it could be, but they just aren't there. They only show up when i log into the guest account but then it doesn't show when i connect it to a desktop/ laptop. It's just weird and painful too!

Why not transfer to the cloud via Wi-Fi? Google Drive will allow up to 15GB. Frankly, that's the only way you are going to do this unless you are rooted in which case the obb folder is shared by both accounts but you can't write to that without root.

Using Google Drive might be problematic as well, since if the phone is logged into the Guest account, it presumably can't access the primary user's Google Drive.

Try using a wireless file transfer solution like AirDroid or Wi-fi File Explorer.

A new GDrive would have to be set up and the link shared. Not too difficult

Nope, Just totally unnecessary.

Why would any other account not be able to transfer files like the main account can. i am seeing this same issue where another account besided the original cannot transfer files using the data cable that comes with prestty much all android devices.. why is that??!

A guest account doesn't have administrator privilege, like a computer primary account can change things but guest can't
