Recently I turned on Power Saving mode when I was away from home for a few hours. I also had "Restrict Background data" on. But ever since turning it off, I haven't received notifications from my email, from Twitter, or anything else. How do I fix this?

Welcome to Android Central! You turned both Power Saving mode and Restrict Background Data off, right? Does it persist after a reboot?

I guess I have to make an account to reply... But yes, I turned them both back off. And yes, I've rebooted.

Thanks for registering! It's the best way to carry on a conversation here.

You don't have any kind of Do Not Disturb setting turned on either, right?

I just realized I am getting notifications from a couple apps where I don't need them (McDonalds and Pokemon Shuffle, of all things), so I checked the notification settings in my mail and Twitter apps and sure enough they're still set to give me notifications like always. I don't know if that changes anything?

Try Safe Mode, to see if it's being caused by a 3rd party app. https://support.t-mobile.com/docs/DOC-10696. You won't be able to test out Twitter's notifications, but you should be able to test out the Email app's notifications.

The email app's push notifications work in Safe Mode. ...and it turns out it works in regular mode, too. Because I never use it I completely forgot that I'm usually using a third-party app, Zoho Mail, because I prefer the layout of it.

(I'm doing great so far, aren't I? Yeah. Sorry about this.)

LOL, no problem! This is all part of the process. Before long, it'll all be second nature.

But does Twitter still not give you notifications when you reboot back into normal mode?

Nope, it doesn't D: I did get a notification from Healing Plurk, my Plurk app, but those are always so sporadic anyway that I don't know if it means anything or not.

Is it now just twitter that isn't giving you notifications? Try wiping app data via application manager. You should have to sign back in. This will clean up any corrupted cache files and conflicting system/app settings.

Wiping the app data worked for both Twitter and Zoho Mail! I'll keep that in mind if I find any other apps with this issue. Thanks a lot.
