Wht can't I change the notification sound on the native text message app?

I am using the native message app on my new A9 but cannot change the notification. I go to 1. Message app. 2.Settings. 3. Notifications. 4. Notification sound. 5 Select a notification that I want. 6 Hit apply, and hear the sound but it stays at the default sound which is (Dahlia) which isn't a choice under notifications. I notified HTC this morning and they had the same issue and are to escalate. Anybody else have this problem?

Welcome to the forums. There is a free app on Play called Zedge. That is a library of a lot of wallpapers, ringtones, etc. That also has the ability to assign a ringtone. See if that works.
