Google photos and device

All of my photos that I have on my device are stored on Google Photos. I want to know, if I delete photos from my device will they stay on Google Photos? Can you help me please?I have almost 3000 photos and dont want to delete them if they are not stored.

A simple test would be to delete one unwanted one.
You will be warned if you delete in such a way as to 'delete everywhere'. Make sure you delete from the 'device only'.

Also, after the most recent version is much easier to delete pictures just locally from Google photos.

All photos & videos. Open Google photos - select settings in the side menu - tap on free up device storage.

If you want to delete just a few pictures try this. Long press on one of them, tap on any other one that you want to delete, tap on the three dots top right (not the bin icon) and confirm "delete device copy".
