how to make short notification mp3 play only once

I made a 6 second mp3 in notifications. It is a simple speech engine saying "take your meds" but when the alarm sounds it says "time to take your meds" over and over for like a full minute. I want it to play the file only once, then stop. Does anyone know how to do that?

Welcome to Android Central! What app are you using to play this reminder? Are you setting it as an alarm using the Alarm Clock app? That will repeat the tone, and you can only modify how long it goes on for before it silences. If you use Google Now or Google Keep for reminders, that reminder uses the default notification tone that you set--which means your "take your meds" tone would also be the default for other apps as well.

You may want to look into 3rd party medication reminder apps, of which there are plenty.
