Motorola Device Manager (Moto G 2nd gen) also captures snippets of audio from my GPS app (Waze).

The files upload to computer as short audio files, and I now have hundreds of them residing on my computer. How can I avoid this in the future? The app it is pulling them from is Waze. Thank you.

Welcome to Android Central! What are you doing to make the files transfer to the computer? Are you using the Device Manager to import all of your media files (like photos) to the computer? If so, I'd suggest just using Windows Explorer on the computer to drag and drop files manually. Import functions often transfer lots of useless images or audio files that were only meant to be cached temporarily or used specifically by an app.
