I got this new phone (S3) on Christmas and whenever I try to watch a video, my phone freezes. It also freezes when i open crossy road and MCSM. Its really annoying, and i was hoping someone could help me out.

Welcome to Android Central! Do you mean any kind of streaming video (like YouTube), or locally saved video files? Is the phone really brand new, or is it used/refurbished? S3's are pretty old phones (although I am aware that some carriers amazingly still carry it in brand new condition).

Its used, i don't know how old it is though. It freezes and restarts when any kind of video is played, YouTube, Facebook and saved files.

Start by wiping the cache partition: http://forums.androidcentral.com/sam...2-s3-tab2.html

I don't want to do that. I'm scared of ruining my phone.

There is nothing you can do to ruin your device by wiping the system cache partition. It's a common go-to procedure when having problems with your device.

    No user data is lost.

    What does it do then?

The system cache stores various temporary data used by the system. Caches never hold crucial data--it's just temporary stuff that helps things run a bit more efficiently. But sometimes, that data can cause glitches. Wiping the cache partition can sometimes help with various problems.

Do you have an SD card inserted? If so, try unmounting it (in Settings>Storage) and removing it, in case the card is corrupt (which can cause various issues).

If that doesn't help, try booting into Safe Mode, which temporarily disables 3rd party apps. https://support.t-mobile.com/docs/DOC-10248. I'm not sure if YouTube was preinstalled on your phone or not, but if it was preinstalled, you should be able to open it in Safe Mode.

Something is wrong with either the firmware or the hardware. The only thing you can try is to reinstall the firmware. You can do this using Samsung Kies: Kies | Samsung LATIN_EN. Select Kies, not Kies3. Then follow these instructions: Kies - How do I Restore my original Samsung ROM (remove custom OS ROM) using Kies 3?. (They're for Kies3, but it should be similar for Kies 2.6.)
