Why isn't my audio working?

A

AC Question

I have a Samsung galaxy tab 4 and have been using it for about a year with no audio problems. Recently I have been using broken earbuds where audio only plays out of one ear since I was waiting to get a new set, and when I got a new pair of Sony's I noticed that when I plugged into the tablet it wasn't playing audio out of one of the ears, specifically the one that was broken on my old earbuds. But, the problem is that it is not because of the new set since it works on other devices, so it had to be because of the tablet itself. Does anyone know how to fix the tablet? Has anyone else experienced this? Thank you.

Welcome to Android Central! Use a can of compressed air to blow the jack out, or a damp toothpick to root around, in case there's debris in there. If it seems clean, and if multiple headphones have the same problem on the tablet, then the jack itself is faulty, and would have to be replaced.
