"SIM card not readable" but still receiving calls/texts?

Yesterday a notification popped up on my phone (Galaxy Note 4) saying SIM card is not readable. I checked to make sure it was in all the way and that it looked okay and it did. I noticed later that I could still send and receive texts and calls, but the notification is still there. What should I do?

Bring the phone into your carrier. (If it's on Sprint of Verizon, the SIM card is only used for data, not voice or text.)
