There are white, horizontal lines across my screen. Display doesnt work

so my nexus 5 was in my car, and when I picked it up to check my phone, there were horizontal and white lines all over the screen. some are skinny and others are thick, but the white lines are everywhere and horziontal. The screen doesnt work. There are no scratches, nothing. But these white lines are causing my display to stop working? I dont understand! please help

I would try to turn the phone off and on again
