My Samsung Galaxy Grand Prime touchscreen has a dead spot that randomly comes and goes. It is always in the exact same area which happens to be over the 'l & 'p' keys on the default portrait keyboard layout.

Restarting the phone will make the dead spot disappear.

When it appears, a multitouch test reveals that the phone will not register a primary touch in this tiny section of the screen. However, if I touch another spot and hold, the phone recognizes a secondary touch in the very same location that would not previously pick up being touched! This eliminates it being hardware related, right?

I have tried to factory reset the phone, but also allowed it to restore all of my installed apps.

The phone is brand new, less than three months old and in impeccable condition (aside from this phantom dead spot issue). It has not been dropped, smashed, water damaged etc.

I am baffled by this. I have tried everything under the sun. It works fine, then the dead spot appears, then it goes away.

    Any ideas?
