Hi this is my first time buying a unlocked phone (LG v10). The main reason I want to buy an unlocked phone is it is not available in my country (Canada). So I have a few questions.

1.) Where is a good place online to buy an unlocked phone (LG v10)

2.)How do I know if it will work on my carrier(Telus)

3.) Does an unlocked phone work in my area (British Columbia)

If Telus works in your area, and the phone is CDMA AND covers bands 12, 13, 17, 29, 5, 2, 4 and 7 AND Telus accepts the particular handset on their network (I don't have a link to a page to check Telus, but you can ask them), it'll work.

Whether the phone is locked or unlocked has nothing to do with where it wwill work - the lock just prevents you from putting in another carrier's SIM card. If it's unlocked it'll work with any SIM card (of the right physical size - and the carrier can supply all of them when you get an account, or switch phones).

But if you're using it only on Telus, it doesn't have to be unlocked - a phone locked to Telus will work just fine - and you'll know that it has the right bands and that Telus will accept it. You only need an unlocked phone if you're going to use it with another carrier - and since Telus is CDMA, the chances that you ever will are slim to none.
